Additionally, PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco Featuring 55% Recycled Material is Now Available Industry Wide, As Part of Five Year Sustainability Plan
LATHAM, N.Y. (December 21, 2016 – PrimaLoft, Inc. (primaloft.com), the world leader in providing comfort solutions with high-performance insulations and fabrics, will introduce enhanced technologies for fall 2017, advancing its Active category with PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Active, now made with 45% post-consumer recycled content. Additionally, PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco, featuring 55% post-consumer recycled content, will now be available industry-wide. These initiatives advance the company’s five-year sustainability goal of having 90% of its products contain at least 35% post-consumer recycled materials, with no loss in performance. Styles featuring these technologies will be on display at PrimaLoft® booth #40043 at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2017.
“Consumers are putting pressure on manufacturers to design gear and apparel that combines performance and sustainability,” said Mike Joyce, president and CEO of PrimaLoft, Inc. “In light of this demand, brands are keenly aware that sustainability is increasingly becoming part of the purchase decision and, as their partner, we diligently work with product designers to address this need. We have been able to successfully engineer this next generation of insulation without sacrificing any performance, resulting in an expansion of brands using PrimaLoft. Our brand partners win because they are able to offer consumers more choices for enjoying their outdoor experience without worrying about the weather.”
PrimaLoft® Gold and Silver Insulation Active provide high breathability and comfort while regulating consumers’ body temperature during intense activity in a wide range of conditions. PrimaLoft® Active insulations do not migrate, allowing outerwear designers to pair the technologies with equally breathable fabrics. PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Active adds the comfort of four-way stretch and the sustainability of recycled material while maintaining performance levels and hand-feel.
As a result of an exclusive partnership with Patagonia in 2016, PrimaLoft first incorporated 55% post-consumer recycled content into PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco, with zero loss in performance or hand-feel as compared to the brand’s industry leading PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation. PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco becomes available to brands industry wide for for fall 2017 and will take the place of PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation, wherever it is used.
At Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, PrimaLoft will also highlight PrimaLoft® Performance Fabrics and PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Aerogel. Performance Fabrics, including fleece, yarns, flannel and denim, feature PrimaLoft® proprietary ultra-fine water resistant fibers with an accelerated dry rate and increased breathability. Aerogel is composed of more than 95% air and is the lightest solid material available, providing protection against extreme cold and heat. It is used in lightweight encapsulated foot beds, insoles, toe caps and glove and pocket insulation inserts.
